The year 2015 is not ending on a great note for Ferrari. On Friday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that some of the Ferrari models of 2016 California T have to be recalled.
Ferrari North America has been informed about the recall and they have already issued an initial recall statement in this regard. Approximately 200 2016 California T cars have already been enlisted for the recall. The reports suggest that there is a possible chance of fuel leak from the car’s engine, which makes driving the cars extremely risky.
The initial recall started on December 14, where 185 2016 California T units were recalled. Later the number was increased to 200. The cars being recalled, had been manufactured during the period September 8 to November 11 2015. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has filed the recall as it believes that a part provided by the maker is faulty and can lead to fuel leaks in the engine.
A fuel leak in the engine could lead to the instant fire in the compartment. Such a situation can lead to a huge accident, leading to deaths. In the past, there have been instances wherein cars have exploded owing to fuel leak in the engine. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration filed the report on November 23 after which a ‘stop sale’ notice was issued to the dealers.
The dealers have been asked to examine all the cars that come through and replace the faulty parts of the vehicle, which any charge. The 2016 California T’s pricing starts from $231,000.
