Last week, Nintendo-Seattle fired its product marketing specialist Alison Rapp. The incident reportedly happened after she got some online threats from gamers. The gamers were upset about some changes made to the games.
“Though Ms. Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. Nintendo is a company committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in both our company and the broader video game industry and we firmly reject the harassment of individuals based on gender, race, or personal beliefs. We wish Ms. Rapp well in her future endeavors.” reads Nintendo’s official statement.
Nintendo denied the claims that she was fired due to the online threats. According to Nintendo’s statement, she was involved with other company which was against the company’s policy. While the company is denying the claims, some of the Alsion’s recent tweets suggest otherwise. According to her, she was not violating any company policies and the controversies around her may well be the reason behind firing her.
