Conventionally, HBO releases 10 episodes per season of Game of Thrones TV series. As the Season 6 comes to a near end, the Episode 8 titled “No One” would be witnessing a few major incidents, maybe deaths, to prepare for the finale of the season. Apart from the storyline, HBO is also facing severe piracy of its most popular show in the history, even after following a strict rules to help curb the illegal download and torrent links.
Google, Yahoo, Bing, other search engines, torrent sites, download websites and online streaming sites have been flooded by the traffic with keywords such as “Game of Thrones Season 6 Episode 8 Download“, “Download Game of Thrones S06E08 torrents“, etc. You won’t believe it, the numbers are in millions.
Officially, the GoT series had started with an average of 2.5 million viewers per episode, which has now reached to nearly 7.5 millions. As the finale of the episode nears, the popularity of the TV series has also increased not only in the U.S., but also across the world. That means, the risk of piracy has also increased and the GoT series has become the highest pirated show in the history of movies and TV shows.
HBO has a state-of-the-art website for online stream, and has partnered with Netflix, Xbox and other platforms to stream the show for their account holders, yes of course paid accounts. Even countries other than United States and United Kingdom, the company has tie ups with other TV channels to showcase the show minutes (or hours) after premiering. But people are still relying on torrents, download websites and streaming sites to watch every (or missed) episodes of Game of Thrones.
In many countries, the GoT fans either haven’t bought HBO accounts or they have no access to HBO services or they don’t want to wait for the late launch of Game of Thrones and wait for one or two more days to watch it on the available TV channels. This is called absolute piracy and HBO, this year, has tried even harder to stop the piracy by raising DMCA takedown complaints on torrent sites and any piracy-related blogs which provide links to download the pirated videos and torrent links. HBO has also stopped sending the preview copy of each of the episodes to the press to prevent the leak.
We recommend people to watch the Game of Thrones from official channel, or live stream on their website for free. People are also managed to use VPNs to access the live streaming in their countries, which is illegal.
