Sony’s PlayStation network was down on Black Friday; Live now

Black Friday was in full swing, but it turned out to be a black day for the Sony PlayStation network being offline for several hours. While the Black Friday was in progress, Sony encountered problem with their PlayStation service again. Several customers have reported about it online and on other social media like Twitter. PSN users have had problems connecting to their accounts to play their recently bought games.sony-playstation-network

PlayStation Network was down for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 and Sony had updated the news on their site to confirm the outage, “You may have some difficulty launching games, applications, or online features”. Sony said that on their website that they are aware of the connectivity issues and “Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience.”

Hundreds of PS fans and users complained about it on popular social media like twitter with the main keywords or hashtags being “psn down” or “#PSNdown”. This PSN outage was claimed to be an attack performed by the infamous hacking group popularly known as the “Lizard Squad”, who have caused similar service outage several times in the past with DDos (Distributed Denial of Service) on Live Gaming services like PSN or Microsoft Xbox. The news about the Lizard Squad taking down PSN was also reflected in their Twitter account, but there isn’t any formidable proof to support their claim.

Sony on the other hand disregards the claims made by hacking group and states a different reason for the PSN outage. Sony on the other hand proposed that the real reason for service outage being the massive number of people who joined the PSN around the same time on this Black Friday.

Taking into concern that Sony PlayStation is the most popular gaming console and also that the sale on PlayStation store was a real bargain, with GTA V being given at a 58% discount or a 40% discount on the latest Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the reason stated by Sony seems much more suited to be the real reason behind the outage. Even though the service was down on Black Friday it is live and online now, letting PlayStation fans enjoy their games to their full extent.
