Recently, a group of researchers has found un-discovered fossils in Brazil, and the quite interesting part is that, the same is a new-discovered animal, which is to be added to the existing organism list hereafter only.
The newly discovered fossil resembles a giant-dog lizard and also resembles to the myth related to seven legendary monsters. After this, the researchers have named the animal as Teyujagua paradoxa, due to the legendary monster myth.
Richard Butler, from the University of Birmingham in UK, mentioned as
“Teyujagua is a really important discovery because it helps us understand the origins of a group of vertebrates called archosauriforms,” “Archosauriforms are spectacularly diverse and include everything from hummingbirds and crocodiles to giant dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus rex and Brachiosaurus,” “Teyujagua fills an evolutionary gap between archosauriforms and more primitive reptiles and helps us understand how the archosauriform skull first evolved,”
Coming to the story, the fossil was first identified by a team from the Federal University of Pampa, Brazil near the city of Sao Franciso de Assis. The discovery of fossils brings out various information that allows us to clarify various evolutions of the birds, crocodiles and also dinosaurs. While comparing to other fossils of the same age, the discovered fossil differs a lot. It lies in between archosauriforms and the more primitive reptiles.
Still the process of excavations is going on and the researcher group hopes that, the discovery will bring out various leads in understanding the ecosystem. Not only the ecosystem, but also the same will help us to identify the environment before the mass extinction that happened 252 million years before.
